EDWARD POWERS

EDWARD POWERS is an acoustic solo fingerstyle recording guitarist based in CRAIGSVILLE, WEST VIRGINIA. His debut CD entitled ACOUSTIC KISSES VOL.1 was released January 18, 2008 on MONSTER TRAXX RECORDS, and is a tribute to fingerstyle virtuoso, TOMMY JONES, and world renowned luthiers HASCAL and RAVENEL HAILE of Tompkinsville, Kentucky.

EDWARD holds a BACHELORS DEGREE IN ELEMENTARY EDUCATION from GLENVILLE STATE COLLEGE and a MASTERS DEGREE in ADMINISTRATION from the WEST VIRGINIA COLLEGE OF GRADUATE STUDIES, MARSHALL UNIVERSITY.

Now retired after 24 years of service in the Nicholas County School System, EDWARD owns MONSTER TRAXX STUDIOS as well as the MONSTER TRAXX RECORDING LABEL.

POWERS' efforts on ACOUSTIC KISSES VOL.1 has garnered the attention and personal endorsement of world renowned virtuoso RAY CUMMINS. EDWARD'S long standing collaboration with RAY has afforded him the opportunity to perform several concerts and guitar clinics with CUMMINS....most notably an appearance on the main stage at CAAS 1996 in honor of CHET ATKINS... an appearance with RAY and THE ST. JOHNS RIVER CITY BAND under the direction of SAM FRICANO of the MONTOVANI ORCHESTRA at THE JACKSONVILLE COLISEUM, JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA. CHET ATKINS PLAYED CARNEGIE HALL with MR.FRICANO and the ST JOHNS RIVER CITY BAND ...and a 1996 concert billed as AN EVENING WITH RAY CUMMINS AND FRIENDS for THE IVY AND STONE COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS, funded by the WEST VIRGINIA COMMISSION ON THE ARTS...WEST VIRGINIA DIVISION of CULTURE and HISTORY.

EDWARD'S first recording experience was on a session in Nashville with CUMMINS at the studio of GRAMMY AWARD WINNING producer DARRYL DYBKA. This invaluable experience led to the formation of MONSTER TRAXX STUDIOS and the MONSTER TRAXX RECORDING LABEL.

POWERS is currently working on several recording projects , including ACOUSTIC KISSES VOL 2 and a GOSPEL CD entitled CROSSING OVER.

EDWARD is also an integral part of a LITERACY/CULTURAL PROGRAM created by DR. RICHARD STOCKTON TRENBATH, entitled MARATHON SCHOLARS , which has garnered national attention and publication in current health periodicals. Presently, in its third year, MARATHON SCHOLOARS stands as a model program which successfully promotes READING LITERACY, PHYSICAL FITNESS, MENTAL HEALTH, and CULTURAL AWARENESS. Students earn medals and tee shirts upon completion of reading twenty-six books and running or walking twenty-six miles during a school year. MARATHON SCHOLARS is sponsored by SUMMERSVILLE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL under the direction of HOSPITAL ADMINISTRATOR, DEBBIE Hill, DIRECTOR OF PERSONNEL, Dave Henderson , and MARATHONER FRANK YOUNG.

EDWARD'S musical ability is a gift from GOD and he enjoys sharing it during various church services, civic activities, and concerts.
